African American Women's Literature in Spain. This volume brings forward a descriptive approach to the translation and reception of African American women's literature in Spain. Drawing from a multidisciplinary theoretical and methodological framework, it traces the translation history of literature produced by African American women, seeking to uncover changing strategies in translation policies as well as shifts in interests in the target context, and it examines the topicality of this cohort of authors as frames of reference for Spanish critics and reviewers. Likewise, the reception of the source literature in the Spanish context is described by reconstructing the values that underlie judgements in different reception sources. Finally, this book addresses the specific problem of the translation of Black English into Spanish. More precisely, it pays attention to the ideological and the ethical implications of translation choices and the effect of the latter on the reception of literary texts. Aquest volum presenta un enfocament descriptiu de la traducció i recepció de la literatura de dones afroamericanes a Espanya. A partir d'un marc teòric i metodològic multidisciplinari, traça la història de la traducció de la literatura produïda per dones afroamericanes, tractant de descobrir estratègies canviants en les polítiques de traducció, així com canvis d'interessos en el context de destí, i examina l'actualitat d'aquesta cohort d'autores com a marc de referència per a crítics i ressenyadors espanyols. Així mateix, es descriu la recepció de la literatura de partida en el context espanyol mitjançant la reconstrucció dels valors que subjauen als judicis en diferents fonts de recepció. Finalment, aquest llibre aborda el problema específic de la traducció de l'anglès afroamericà a l'espanyol. Més concretament, para atenció a les implicacions ideològiques i ètiques de les opcions de traducció i l'efecte d'aquestes últimes en la recepció de textos literaris.This volume brings forward a descriptive approach to the translation and reception of African American women's literature in Spain. Partiendo de un marco teórico y metodológico multidisciplinar, traza la historia de la traducción de la literatura producida por mujeres afroamericanas, tratando de descubrir estrategias cambiantes en las políticas de traducción, así como cambios de intereses en el contexto de destino, y examina la actualidad de esta cohorte de autoras como marco de referencia para críticos y reseñadores españoles. Asimismo, se describe la recepción de la literatura de partida en el contexto español mediante la reconstrucción de los valores que subyacen a los juicios en diferentes fuentes de recepción. Por último, aborda el problema específico de la traducción del inglés afroamericano al español. Más concretamente, presta atención a las implicaciones ideológicas y éticas de las opciones de traducción y el efecto de estas últimas en la recepción de textos literarios.
